Welcome Back to You…and Me

A long time ago, before life got quite so complicated, there was a little blog called Polishes, Pages & Purrs. It was exactly what it sounded like - books, nail polish, cats, and whatever else happened to wander into my life.

Then life changed. A lot. And somewhere along the way, I stopped writing.

Losing one of my cats after 17 years knocked the wind out of me in a way I wasn’t prepared for. The blog had always been tied so closely to that chapter of my life that, for a while, I just couldn't imagine coming back to it.

I’m not the same woman who started Polishes, Pages & Purrs all those years ago. And I don’t want to be.

Since then, there have been diagnoses, setbacks, new beginnings, a move, a first home, business ownership, fifty, and more than a few moments where I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.

There have also been books I’ve loved, ridiculous amounts of glitter polish, cats with entirely too much authority, home projects that looked easier on Pinterest, and a growing realization that maybe starting over doesn’t have to mean starting from scratch.

This time, Polishes, Pages & Purrs is coming back with a little more life in it. A little more mess. A little more honesty. And a whole lot more room for the things that matter now.

There will still be books, There will definitely still be nail polish. And there will always be cats. But there will also be midlife, chronic illness, first-time homeowner adventures, new places, firsts I never expected to have at fifty, and the occasional day that just flat-out sucks.

Because this chapter isn’t about pretending everything is wonderful. It’s about paying attention to what’s still possible - even when life looks different than you thought it would.

Maybe the best chapters aren’t always the ones we planned. Maybe they’re the ones we decide to write anyway.
